Questions

How do I place an order?
Select one or more items and add them to your basket. Go to your basket to confirm your order and follow the on-screen instructions after registering as a guest or logging on to your customer account.

I have placed an order. What happens next?
Once you have placed an order online and your payment and delivery details have reached us, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail.
Once your payment reaches us, we will arrange for your item(s) to be sent by a shipping company or parcel service. We will of course forward all the shipping company contact details to you and let you know when the item of furniture has been collected from our warehouse. For items sent as parcels, you will receive a tracking number.

Which payment methods can I use?
We accept payments by PayPal, instant transfer, GiroPay, credit card (Visa, MasterCard) or classic bank transfer.
If you opt to pay by PayPal, instant transfer, GiroPay or credit card, the paymenttransaction is integrated in the order process. If you opt for a classic bank transfer, you will receive our account information by e-mail along with your order confirmation.

I live outside the EU. Do I still have to pay German VAT?
In Germany, second-hand goods are subject to the margin scheme under § 25a of the German VAT Act (UStG). This means that VAT cannot be shown separately on the invoice and we cannot offer input tax deduction.

I live outside the EU. Do I have to pay customs duties?
Customs clearance charges (export declaration) are included in the delivery charge for customers outside the EU. However, depending on the customs regulations in your country, you may have to pay import duties. These usually have to be settled before you receive your goods.

How are the items transported?
Large items and fragile items are delivered by our furniture shipping partner. In exceptional cases we may send carefully packaged items on pallets.

We use DHL for parcel deliveries.

Will my furniture be carried inside my home?
Our standard shipping service is for curbside delivery, i.e. to the pavement outside the delivery address given in the order. The drivers travel alone and will need your help with unloading.
If you want your furniture to be carried inside, up to your floor or into a room of your choice, please write via mail:  Please note that this will incur an additional charge.
Alternatively, the driver can help you carry your furniture inside, for an extra charge (only within Germany; you help carry). In this case, please send us an e-mail before placing your order: mail@mid-century-friends.com. For all other EU countries, drivers are usually happy to help carry in return for a modest tip. However, we cannot guarantee this service.

Can I collect my order myself?
You are welcome to collect your order from us in Neuss 41460 (Germany). Please write mail@mid-century-friends.com us one day in advance with an appointment when you want to pick up the items. The pick up time is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on the shipping company and delivery address. Deliveries within Germany, to other EU countries and Switzerland usually take 2–5 weeks.
Parcel deliveries take 3–5 working days within Germany and 5–10 working days to other EU countries and Switzerland.

Can I request a preferred delivery date?
For a standard shipping delivery, your order will be planned and delivered as part of a grouped delivery. Fixed delivery slots are not possible because the delivery times are planned chronologically on the day of delivery.
Delivery slots can only be requested for direct deliveries, for pallet deliveries in combination with an overnight service, or for the ‘Preferred day’ option. Overnight and preferred-day deliveries are only available Monday to Friday (no Saturday deliveries). Please note that these options will incur extra charges. Can I arrange for an express delivery?
If you want to book an express delivery, please e-mail us before placing your order: mail@mid-century-friends.com Please note that express deliveries incur higher delivery charges.

Can I return an item or cancel my order?
Under § 13 of the German Civil Code, you have the right to cancel your purchase, without giving a reason, within 14 days of receiving your goods. If you wish to return an item you have purchased, simply send us an e-mail to mail@mid-century-friends.com stating your name and telephone number and we will be in touch with you shortly. Please note that you will be responsible for paying the direct costs associated with returning parcel and non-parcel items. You can find all the legal information under Right to cancel.
