Ordering process

How do I place an order?
  1. You select one or more items and add them to your shopping cart.
  2. Go to your shopping cart to confirm your order and follow the steps in the checkout process.
  3. After that, you will receive an order confirmation by email.
I have placed an order. What happens next?

After receipt of payment, we will commission the freight forwarder or parcel service provider. Of course, we will forward all contact details of the freight forwarder to you, as well as information about when the piece of furniture has been picked up from us. For items that can be shipped as a parcel, you will receive a tracking number by email.

What payment options are available to me?

Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, instant bank transfer and Klarna.

I reside outside the EU. Do I have to pay German VAT?

In Germany, used goods are subject to the differential taxation system as defined in § 25 UStG. This means that VAT cannot be shown separately. Therefore, a deduction of input VAT is not possible.

I live outside the EU. Do I have to pay customs duties?

For customers outside the EU, the costs for customs clearance (export declaration) are included in the stated transport costs. However, import duties may apply depending on the country's customs regulations, which are usually payable by you before receiving the goods.

Shipping and Returns

How long does the delivery take?

Delivery times depend on the respective shipping company and the delivery location. Transport within Germany, to other EU countries and Switzerland usually takes 2-5 weeks. For items suitable for parcel delivery, the delivery time within Germany is 3-5 working days. For other EU countries and Switzerland, it is 5-10 working days.

How are the items transported?

Large and fragile items are transported by one of our furniture shipping partners. In exceptional cases, we also ship items very well packed on pallets. We will inform you in detail about the transport process by email.

We ship items suitable for parcel delivery via DHL.

Will my order be delivered to my apartment?

Our standard freight transports are "curb-side delivery", meaning the delivery is made to the sidewalk of the specified delivery address. The drivers are traveling alone and need your help unloading.

If you would like delivery to your doorstep, your floor, or a specific room, please email us at mail@mid-century-friends.com so we can request these additional paid services for you. Please include your order number in the email. This only applies to deliveries within Germany.

Tip: For all other EU countries, the drivers usually are happy to help with carrying the luggage for a small "tip". We cannot guarantee this service.

Can I pick up my order myself?

You are welcome to pick up your order in Neuss from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You can select this option during the ordering process. Please make an appointment at least one day before pickup via mail@mid-century-friends.com .

Can I arrange a preferred delivery date?

With standard freight transport, your order is scheduled and delivered in a group shipment. Fixed dates are not possible, as the dates are scheduled chronologically one after the other on the day of delivery.

Desired delivery dates can only be achieved through direct transport, pallet transport in combination with overnight delivery, or the "desired delivery day" option. Overnight delivery and delivery on a desired day are only possible from Monday to Friday (no Saturday delivery). Please note that additional costs will apply.

Can I arrange for express delivery?

Please email us at mail@mid-century-friends.com before placing your order. Please note that express deliveries incur higher shipping costs.

Can I return an item or cancel the order?

In accordance with § 13 BGB (German Civil Code), you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods without giving any reason. If you wish to return a purchased item, please send us an email to mail@mid-century-friends.com stating your name, order number and telephone number.

We will then contact you shortly. Please note that you bear the direct costs of the return shipment. All legal information can be found under Right of Withdrawal.

Are the prices negotiable?

All the pieces of furniture offered in our shop have been expertly restored by hand using elaborate craftsmanship. Our
